"History is not the past. It is the present. We carry our history with us. We are our history" (James Baldwin)

SHAPE THE FUTURE is a newly founded artistic platform by the Mexican-German choreographer Yolanda Gutiérrez.
SHAPE THE FUTURE produces the projects URBAN BODIES PROJECT , DECOLONYCITIES and DECONSTRUCT SPACES in public space with an international team.

SHAPE THE FUTURE produces performative tours in various cities and contexts worldwide - be it in museums, ports, monuments or other colonially influenced urban places. Through dance interventions, new perspectives on colonial sites of memory emerge to reflect political, local and international inscriptions and to show their relevance in the context of decolonisation and deconstruction. While URBAN BODIES PROJECT and DECOLONYCITIES deal concretely with the reappraisal of local colonial history, DECONSTRUCT SPACES develops dance perspectives also on other historical power relations that exist in our society.
SHAPE THE FUTURE is a search for traces.
